Minister Says Now Is The Time To Buy In Spain

This week Spain’s Development Minister was at the Spanish Embassy in London presenting his views on the current state of the property market in Spain and explaining why he believes that now is the time to buy in Spain.

With hundreds of thousands of unsold holiday homes in Spain, many of which are going at rock bottom prices, it certainly does seem that it is a buyers market at the moment with bargains galore to be found all over Spain.

Here in Marbella, we are seeing new properties come on to the books every single day and while the market has changed and certain aspects have become a lot more difficult, we are still finding that people are snapping up these bargain Marbella properties at prices they are more than happy with.

The Minister’s talk forms part of a mini Roadshow during which he will be visiting several countries and participating in talks and presentations with the aim of encouraging renewed interest in the property market in Spain. With house prices that have fallen considerably, coupled with the fact that the Spanish economy is making steps towards a positive and slow recovery, property in Spain is spiking the interest again of those looking to pick up bargain investment properties as well as second homes.

Good News For Spanish Property in 2010

Property register statistics recorded for the last quarter of 2010 indicate that the Spanish property market experienced a slight boost with slightly more properties being sold last year than in 2009.

The figures in the report by Mark Stucklin of Spanish Property Insight states that this equates to an increase of 5.38% on 2009 which is also the first time it has happened in 4 years.

As per the report, the increase can potentially be attributed to “temporary factors such as the elimination of mortgage tax relief at the start of this year, and the increase in VAT on new home sales mid-way through last year.”

The Spanish property market is also a long way off a full recovery but any increase is positive news for those in the industry and is a good indication of the expected growth to be seen across 2011.

Footballers Promote Spain As Top Tourist Destination

Spain tourism is about to be given a massive boost by news that Spanish footballers are going to be serving as ambassadors for tourism in Spain in advertising campaigns throughout the world.

The news is welcomed by Spanish tourist authorities who believe that the backing of top footballers and top Spanish clubs including Real Madrid will be beneficial to Spain given the international fan bases of the players and clubs.

The 3 year deal will see top Spanish footballers promoting Spain as a tourist destination and is expected to have far reaching results so we may well see Cristiano Ronaldo in a “Visit Spain” type advert soon!
